Gigantoraptor

Hmm... new discovery - reminds me of my old reconstruction of Deinocheirus as a giant oviraptosaur - I couldn't help making a mention of this on DML:

I say a bit more about it at my website (I'll probably update it with more info on what I was trying to do with it at the time):

chrisglenart.googlepages.com/p…

There's a lot wrong with it, but was a very early attempt.

....hey - anyone find the suffix 'raptor' a bit pointless in this instance?
OK, fair enough for 'Oviraptor' as at the time they thought it was an 'egg-stealer'.

Gigantoraptor actually means 'very big thief or bird of prey'...

New website!

Couldn't resist getting myself one of those google wbesites. Free, quick, easy and they do the job OK. Perfect for someone like me who doesn't have any time.

Note: it's still being put together....

For those who care, I got a drawing into Science (McHenry et al., 2005 "Bottom Feeding Plesiosaurs" - Congrats to Colin McHenry and co)... pretty excited about that. Its the small pencil pic in the bottom corner. I was pleased with the drawing (when blown up to full size, bit hard to see in the article!), but had to do a really fast colour version for the media release - watercolour - not very experienced at that, and very rushed. The colour version anded up on ABC (Australian Broadcasting Commission) Online, National Geographic Online, Sydney Morning Herald... and last but not least Oceans of Kansas! Only days earlier I'd been using Dan Varner's artwork from that site to help me get the underwater look (ended up quite different, dif media afterall) and next thing I know my art's up along side his. That being said, I wasn't entirely happy with the water colour, and think I'll try an acrylic version to satisfy myself.

I can't post a link here or display the pic, but go check SCIENCE online ARCHIVES, 7th OCT for the article.

Here's a link to the Oceans of Kansas site:

...I'm allowed to post that here aren't I? It's a free website...

... now working on a Nature illustration....
This time a line drawing done in Photoshop (traced a pencil sketch) - first real Photoshop attempt other than the crap I've stuck in my gallery here. Can't say anything about it till it gets published - just finished it. Great to finaly get paid a decent rate!
